Paint Grade Cabinets:

Do you ever stand in your kitchen looking at the cabinets and wish they would just go away and replace themselves? When you try to open your kitchen drawers do you wish they wouldn't stick? When you try to close the drawers do you wish you didn't have to shove them with your hip? Maybe you wish you didn't have to lift the cabinet door just to get it to close properly.
Do you want your cabinets to look beautiful, and custom? Do you want to be proud of your new cabinets when people come to visit? Do you want to feel that warm pride in your new cabinets when your visitors tell you how beautiful they are? Do you also want your cabinets to be durable and to last for as long as you want them?
As you look in your kitchen, can you picture it new, can you picture the new clean cabinets that open and close without banging, without squeaking, & without sticking. In our industry things have gotten a little difficult over the past few years to say the least. I was up this morning at 5:00am thinking about how the millwork industry has changed and what challenges we face in the future.
I started scouring the internet and found a very heart felt article by Millwork Magazine. In the article they said;
"The past prepares us for the future. Over the years, we have lost good friends, industry leaders and some great teachers, but they left their footprint on our lives and on our association as we have moved toward the future. We should never lose our past, it is who we are--and that respect for the past is what is priceless about this industry and our association."
That hit home for me because I do feel a kind of kindred ship with this business and everyone in it. Not only that but with all of our loyal customers and our future loyal customers.
When we create custom knotty alder doors or cabinets or any other type of millwork, we are helping our customers with something very personal, something that touches their hearts and soul and ours too.
Creating custom woodwork is a very fulfilling passion, when a door is created, it feels smooth, it has it's own characteristics - maybe the knotty alder creates a shape of some sort in the door - it is a creation all it's own.
I remember those doors and cabinets, I remember creating them, I know where they now live - whether it be in a business or home - I feel a personal connection to each one.
That is why at Northwest Door & Mill your opinion matters to us. We want you to be satisfied with our product, we care about the product we produce, we care about the product you will be living with.
Give us a call, we are here for you.

It was 198
0 when our company was contacted by a local Architect who wanted us to come up with a rustic knotty material other than knotty pine for a home under construction in Sun Valley, Idaho. Interested in doors, windows, cabinets and trim, they were searching for a very distressed appearance in a light chestnut color. Soon after seeing a truckload of pallet stock on its way to a pallet factory, we knew we had found our special material. It was alder, full of cracks, large knots, bark and different grain character. After completing several samples of material and stain, a new look had arisen, and the craze had begun. Over 25 years later Northwest Door & Mill is the leading manufacturing company specializing in custom woodworking. Our manufacturing plant is located in Carey, Idaho and is equipped with the most advanced machinery available today
